Does the Prada Re Edition 2005 Nylon Bag stand up to its hype? As a fellow owner of this bag, I will be spilling all of the pros and cons of this designer bag.
This is arguably the #1 trending bag in the world, but is this mini bag really worth $1,400? I’m here to share all the information you need to know before deciding on purchasing this bag.
This post is going to be an in-depth review of the Prada Re Edition 2005 Nylon Bag.
Review: Prada Re Edition 2005 Nylon Bag
About the Bag
Before getting into the review, I wanted to briefly summarize this bag and the specs of it.
The Prada Re Edition 2005 Nylon Bag is a mini-sized bag that works as a shoulder or crossbody bag. The dimensions are 18 cm in height, 6.5 cm in length, and 22 cm in width. This bag also has a fairly broad color selection, with 8 different colors available. It retails for $1,290, but depending on where you live, keep in mind of the taxes that will be added to the price. I live in the US, and the total for this bag came out to be slightly over $1,400.
Note: The price of this bag increases occasionally, so the price discussed in this post might not reflect the current price of the bag. I purchased it for $1,290, but it now retails for $1,390.
Description
As stated in the name of this bag, the material is predominately nylon, but there are leather details on the bag as well. The hardware is metal, and it only comes in a silver color. It also comes with a mini, detachable pouch that goes on the crossbody strap of the bag. However, you can also take off the pouch, and put it on the chain handle if you are not using the longer strap.
As for the luxury aspect of this bag, you will definitely know it’s from Prada, as it’s stamped everywhere on the bag. The logo is on the front of the bag, the pouch, the key chain, and inside the bag. It even has the “Prada” subtly etched on the crossbody strap!
Pros:
1. Size
If you are looking for a small sized bag that you can take anywhere, this bag is for you. This is the perfect size for a small, crossbody bag and it will fit all your necessities. The size also makes it great to wear as a shoulder bag without it weighing down on your shoulder.
I will say if you have a longer wallet or a larger makeup bag, you might have to switch them out when using this bag.
2. Quality/Durability
This bag holds a lot more than you would think, and it won’t stretch your bag. The nylon material of this bag allows it to be more flexible, and it won’t be as susceptible to creases.
You also won’t have to worry about this bag ripping apart or metal parts breaking off. The nylon material is very durable, and it can hold a lot of weight. Thus, this bag will definitely last you a long time.
3. Trendy
This might be an obvious one but the aesthetics of this bag is everything! I would say this bag leans towards the casual side, but you can totally pull it off with a dress or a going out outfit. One thing I can say—you’ll get a lot of use out of this bag.
And honestly, this bag will always be a great addition to your closet. It was re-released 15 years later for a reason! The unique, but simple design of this bag is what makes it so trendy and wearable.
Cons:
1. Organization
One of the biggest cons for this bag is that there are no pouches or compartments in the bag. So when you’re looking for an item in this bag, you might have to do a little bit of digging.
However, this is when the mini, detachable pouch comes in handy. You can put your smallest items, such as your lip balm, house key, or credit card in this pouch, so you don’t always have to dig through your bag.
Another tip is to compartmentalize everything in your own little pouches, such as a makeup pouch, first aid kit, etc. This way, you’re not rustling through your bag just to find your bandaid.
2. Price
I put the price in the ‘cons’ list because many argue that $1,500 is not a reasonable price for a nylon bag of this size. The luxury aspect of Prada is a big component to the price of this bag, but if you don’t think it’s worth spending $1,500 for the logo, check out the dupes of this bag below!
Prada also has the Re Edition 2000 Nylon Mini Bag, which is slightly cheaper than the bag mentioned in this post. The 2000 Nylon Prada shoulder bag has a woven handle, rather than a chain handle. It also does not have a long strap, so it can only be worn as a small, handle bag. However, it retails for $795 before tax, which is half the price of the Prade Re Edition 2005 Nylon Bag.
Dupes
Princess Polly “Peta & Jain Paloma Nylon Bag”│$50
This bag is the best dupe to the Prada nylon crossbody bag, and it’s only $50! Just like the Prada bag, it has a chain strap, and a detachable long strap. One big difference in this bag besides it not having the Prada logo is that it does not come with the mini, detachable pouch. Other than that, it’s pretty much the perfect duplicate for the Prada crossbody bag.
Princess Polly also is reliable for having durable, high quality bags, so this Peta & Jain Paloma Nylon Bag will be a great alternative!
Weekday “Zari Handbag”│$40
The “Zari Handbag” from Weekday is another dupe that is slightly similar to the Prada bag. This style does not come with the chain handle or the mini pouch, but it has a zipped pocket inside. However, it is also a nylon material bag, and it has a very similar shape to the Prada bag. The material is strong, and it is slightly longer than the Prada bag so you can fit more items.
Note: There are tons of other dupes online, but I think these are the two best dupes to the Prada bag. If you are turning down the Prada shoulder bag, you should opt for the most affordable, but highest quality alternative!
